The Oxford Handbook of Women and Gender in Medieval Europe is now available in print and individual chapters are also online via the Oxford Handbooks Online. It is a brick of a book (640 pages), which is intended to provide overviews of current scholarship on a wide range of topics; among the many delights lurking in it is a chapter by me on “Carolingian Domesticities”. And for anyone who wants to purchase it, I have a discount code available that gives 20% off before 31st October 2103. (E-mail me if you’re interested).

    • I haven’t yet read all the chapters myself ;-), but there’s some very good ones in there. it’s particularly useful to have something available in English by Albrecht Diem on gender and monasticism, because he’s got some very important ideas.

    • Sorry you missed out on the discount code. I still think it’s worth buying for your library, obviously. But if you particularly want a copy of my chapter, then e-mail me and I can send it to you.
